Weekend Writing Challenge: Hand Writing Results

A journal opened with the handwritten pages fanning outwards on a rough hewn wooden table next to a pen and teacup.

I was not expecting to dislike this challenge as much as I did. There are times that I write short stories by hand and then send them to myself via Remarkable, or I write them in a notebook and type them out.

The problem that I had over the weekend is that I wrote substantially less, but the process took up much more time. I found myself staying at my local coffee shop much later than I normally would, and that was just for the process of writing. This isn’t counting the amount of time it took me to get my writing into my computer, which was almost an hour for everything.

I started drafting out my stories through typing when I started writing news articles. I found it easiest to type out my notes and then copy and paste them until they became a coherent story. I do the same thing with my fiction, and I hadn’t realized how much this system just works.

This week ended up being a light week for writing, but I did submit to quite a few places, so that in itself was a victory.

Weekend challenge wordcount: 1,829

Week wordcount: 3,774

I was going to tweak this challenge for the weekend and write with my Remarkable, but I’ve decided to count this experiment a loss and move on to something new.
