New article published in 411 Magazine
I just had an article published in 411 Magazine. I interviewed Matt Rothschild, the author of Dumbfounded, a memoir about his life growing up in New York to an uber wealthy family. Soon, I’m also going to have a review of the book published online.
Here’s the link to the 411 article.

A “Monica” movie?
Right now, I’ve started talks with a local director on possibly making my short story, “Monica,” into a short film. I’m currently doing a little bit of rewriting and converting the story back to a previous draft (more gore and craziness), and then I’ll send it back out to him and see what he thinks.
Not too bad. I sent it out a few months ago to a magazine, it got accepted, and now there might be Hollywood stars in my future. (It’s fun to think about.) If I didn’t have motivation to write before…

I’m going to apply for the Gift of Freedom grant. It is a $50,000 grant for women writers that would allow me to focus on freelancing and complete a sci-fi negative utopia novel that has been bouncing around in my head.
Even though I would have to accout for how I spend all of the money, I would get a mentor to help me with my art and get a free trip to a writer’s retreat. There’s also a scholarship available for the retreat, so I will apply for that, too, just in case.
If you’re a woman writer and can prove you’ve been making strides towards your goals, you have a chance.

I’m not quite happy with my life right now, but I do have to say my literary life has exploded since I graduated. I’ve been reading, writing, and corresponding with authors. That part, at least, has been great. My first published short story is now available. You can check it out in the newest issue of Arrhythmic Souls, Vol. 1, Issue 3. It costs $10 for the magazine as a little heads up. It’s the story of an slacker who becomes a vampire and how he comes to terms with his new progeny and her first steps towards independence. I should be posting some book reviews and literary notions soon, so stay tuned. Now, I plan to watch The Wizard of Oz until I fall asleep.

I graduated on May 3, and I’ve been working and writing since then.
I just finished the first draft of a story I’m writing, and I’ve been working on the second draft of my first novel using a “write a novel in 30 days” plan. I’ve already failed, but when I can get things back on track, I think it will really help.
Mookychick is going to be refurbishing a bunch of my blog posts, so I’ll be posting links when they’re up.
And, I was approached by the editor of a local magazine today, so I might end up freelancing for them. More information about that to come as well.
That’s about it. I should be posting more, now that I have the time.

Today I found out a short story I wrote, “Monica,” has been accepted by a magazine. While it’s a small literary zine for genre fiction (mainly horror) I’m still tickled pink. The next issue of the zine should be coming out in a month or two, so I’ll post a link when the time comes.
Until then, check out my newest blog post in Sticks of Fire. It’s about some time I spent at an Anonymous vs. Scientology protest.

-note- I think I may just move everything over to this blog. If you noticed this blog no longer links to my site, good job! I’m going to focus on building it then one day having a grand reveal. Until then, enjoy the blog!
Now on to our regularly scheduled blog post.

So, yesterday I bought a five-in-one converter for my memory cards, because I no longer have the dock for my old digital camera, which is the only digital camera I have that still takes pictures.
When I plugged it in and put in my memory card, it worked. I deleted the old pictures and took a test picture on the camera. It worked like a charm. I tried to take another picture. The card was out of memory.
There was one picture on the card.
I fiddled with it for about two hours and decided the card was corrupted from three years of neglect.
I bought a new card today for $40 (the cheapest Best Buy had).
I need a new driver in order to use the new memory card. In order to install the new driver, I need to have the camera docked. I don’t have the dock.
I can now either borrow a friend’s camera or take one to two pictures at a time, then upload to my computer.
Poo.
I am a little less sick than I was yesterday, though.

I was going to write a post over the weekend, but I somehow managed to erase the entire post, only to have it pop back up now in my saved drafts. I shake my fist at you, WordPress.
The long and short of it has been I’ve been sick (I think I have the plague) and so stressed out about school and not having a job that I developed a writer’s block. But, writer’s block no more.
I just got a freelance gig with a site that should be up in May and have some more work options on the horizon.
My digital camera died, so I have no pictures of Megacon, but I should be getting some pictures from my photographer, Daniel Kelly, soon.
Megacon alternated between total suckage and being wonderful this year. I have a rundown of suckage and future cons here. I’ll have a longer blog about Game and such when I get the pics. I’m much more confidant as a player now, and hopefully by the time I get my pictures I’ll be much less delirious with sickness. Or, at least, my nose will have stopped running and I’ll be able to breathe through it.
I may also have exciting news on the fiction front soon.
And, I plan to write a review about Netflix (hey, it’s new to me) and some recent movies and TV shows I’ve been watching. (I’m sure there’s nothing unhealthy about watching two full seasons of The “L” Word in two weeks).
I also have some pics from a recent fashion show at the Vitale Bros. Gallery I might put up, since they’re definitely not timely enough to put up on Sticks of Fire.
Oh, and I plan to cover an Anonymous vs. Scientology protest on the Ides of March. At least, I will if I can ensure my relative safety, because a lot of people seem to think that a protest by a bunch of guys who spend all of their free time on their computers that is against people who follow the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard may be dangerous.
I’m not that worried about it.
